Welcome to Heidelberg Lodge!

Heidelberg , Gauteng

Nestled conveniently along the N3 highway between Johannesburg and Durban, Heidelberg is just 50 km from Johannesburg, 40 km from OR Tambo International Airport, and 50 km from the Vaal River. This prime location makes Heidelberg readily accessible and an integral part of Gauteng, the heartland of South Africa.

The town boasts excellent medical facilities, caters to all religious denominations, and features five shopping centres, alongside an impressive array of sporting and recreational amenities.

Heidelberg is situated at the eastern edge of the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, a vast expanse of land that includes Gauteng’s highest point, rising nearly 2,000 metres above sea level. The town developed as a quintessential rural Victorian settlement, with numerous buildings dating back to the period between 1890 and 1910 preserved for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, Heidelberg was home to AG Visser, a beloved medical doctor and renowned Afrikaans poet. His residence, which can be viewed by appointment, is conveniently located near the main road through town and adjacent to our lodge!
